The Detroit Pistons have options with their approach to the coming offseason. Detroit can create nearly $17 million in cap space this summer. That’s cap space the Pistons could use to pursue an upgrade at the center position.
Players Detroit has been linked to include Myles Turner, Naz Reid and Santi Aldama. The Pistons are reportedly interested in adding a stretch five this offseason.
Turner is an unrestricted free agent and widely expected to return to the Indiana Pacers. Reid and Aldama could be more available.
Reid has a player option with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Most expect Reid to return to Minnesota, but a big offer could draw him away from the Wolves.
Aldama is a restricted free agent with the Memphis Grizzlies. Given Memphis is looking to work out a new deal for Jaren Jackson Jr., they could let Aldama go if he receives a big enough offer. The Grizzlies are closing in on being a luxury tax team, if they re-sign their own free agents.
